Deputies investigating deadly train vs pedestrian collision in Ravenel
CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) )– Charleston County deputies are investigating a deadly collision between a train and a pedestrian that happened Friday night.
The pedestrian was struck near the railroad crossing on Highway 162 and Railroad Avenue in Ravenel about a mile down, according to Alexis Douglas, spokesperson for the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
An Amtrak passenger train hit the pedestrian just before 10 p.m., and they died at the scene. The train did not derail, and no one aboard reported injuries.
All CSX trains were temporarily stopped in the area.
An investigation is ongoing.
