Man arrested in alleged ‘Peeping Tom’ incident at Mount Pleasant tobacco shop
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) — A 29-year-old man accused of taking inappropriate videos of women at the Mount Pleasant business where he worked is now facing charges, according to police.
A report from the Mount Pleasant Police Department states that officers responded to Smoker Friendly on Ben Sawyer Boulevard on May 31, where a woman reported that a man used his phone to take a video up her skirt while she was shopping.
The woman told police that she demanded the man — later identified as Giovani Reyes-Lopez — delete the video, and he handed over his phone, according to the report.
The report states that the woman claimed to have seen “hundreds of videos” on his camera roll of women across a range of ages that included their “faces, voices, and private parts.”
Police said an initial investigation determined there may have been several other victims of voyeurism over the past year.
Reyes-Lopez was arrested and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hold.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Upson at 834-884-4176.
