Road rage dispute leads to shooting in North Charleston, police say

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A road rage dispute led to a Tuesday afternoon shooting in North Charleston, police say.

Officers with the North Charleston Police Department responded to a Sunoco on Ashley Phosphate Road around 5:30 p.m. for a shooting.

It was determined through an investigation that the occupants of two vehicles engaged in a dispute over erratic driving on Dorchester Road near Patriot Boulevard.

“While stopped at the traffic light, occupants of the first vehicle threw an object at the second vehicle. An unknown occupant of the second vehicle then fired a shot at the first vehicle, injuring one individual,” NCPD said.

An investigation is underway. Police ask that anyone who witnessed the incident, or those with information, contact the agency at 843-740-2800.
