You can help Charleston PD name its new police horses
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – You can help the Charleston Police Department name its two new four-hooved officers.
The agency recently welcomed two new horses to its Mounted Patrol Unit, and now they want to hear from the community on deciding a name for the mounts before they officially join the ranks.

MOUNT 1
The department is deciding between ‘Vince’ and ‘Rucker’ for the name of one horse:
Vince: “A creative nod to Vincent van Gogh, inspired by this mount’s unique ear notch,” the agency said.
Rucker: “A tribute to a generous local supporter and Charleston’s own Darius Rucker.”

MOUNT 2
Police are deciding between ‘Joe’ and ‘Riley’ for the second mount:
Joe: “Like a “cup-of-Joe,” a fun reference to this mount’s rich coloring.”
Riley: “Honoring a family name of a generous supporter, and a nod to long-time Charleston Mayor Joe Riley.”
The Charleston Police Department said you have until Wednesday morning to cast your vote online. Voting ends at 10 a.m.
Once the mounts have been named, the Charleston Police Department said it will invite the public to join them for a swearing-in ceremony and meet-and-greet with the Mounted Patrol Unit.
