Severe storms, strong wind likely Friday afternoon

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Storm Team 2 is tracking the possibility of severe storms and strong winds Friday afternoon as a cold front passes through the state.

The National Weather Service issued an “enhanced risk” for severe weather during the afternoon and evening for the majority of South Carolina.

Forecasters say the biggest threat is high winds from a cold front that is carrying a line of potential strong storms.

“Within this squall line, we could see some straight-line damaging wind gusts. That’s why we’ve declared a weather alert day, especially for those inland locations,” said Meteorologist Jed Christoph.

Storm Team 2 said these storms will likely arrive in the Lowcountry between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
