CCSD board votes in favor of wage increases for teachers, non-teaching staff
CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County School District’s Board of Trustees approved Monday its fiscal year 2025-2026 budget including pay raises for teachers and increases non-teaching staff wages.
The $1.7B budget, which passed 8-1, will see a $4,000 raise for all teachers across the salary schedule with step increases, and bumps wages for new entry-level teachers to $64,782.
Non-teaching staff will see a 3% salary increase, along with step increases.
“This budget represents a continued and historic investment by our Board in our students and in each of you. These decisions reflect what we value most: investing directly in classrooms, student success, and the people who make that success possible–our teachers, staff, and school leaders,” said CCSD Superintendent Anita Huggins in an email to the district.
Huggins said the budget also adds 42.5 new positions across various school-based and student-centered roles.
Daycare programs for CCSD employees, already in place for those working in downtown Charleston, North Charleston, and West Ashley, will expand to the East of the Cooper area next year.
Finally, there will be a 50% reduction in employee Kaleidoscope after-school care rates.
