Flight returns to runway at Charleston International Airport after mechanical issue
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A plane that departed Charleston International Airport Sunday had to return to the runway after experiencing a mechanical issue, airport officials confirmed.
American Airlines flight 2144, departing for Miami, Florida, returned to CHS shortly after its initial departure. Airline officials said the flight landed safely and returned to the gate under its own power.
After returning, the plane was taken out of service to be inspected.
“Our team is working hard to get customers on their way to their final destination,” American Airlines said. “We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans, and we apologize for the inconvenience.”
The aircraft was an Airbus A319 carrying 127 passengers and five crew members.
