Mount Pleasant dedicates Town Hall gym to Debbie Antonelli

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) — Debbie Antonelli has dedicated her life to basketball and helping others. Now, a Mount Pleasant town facility will bear her name.

Mayor Will Haynie announced Thursday that the Town Gym will be dedicated to Antonelli, who has lived in the town for the last 25 years.

It is the latest recognition for the college basketball analyst who has been enshrined in the women’s basketball hall of fame and inducted into the Ring of Honor at NC State University.

“I’m just so grateful,” Antonelli told News 2 Sports after the announcement. “I don’t even know what to say. I’m at a loss for words.”

There is no timeframe for when Antonelli’s name will go up on the gym, Haynie said.
