Driver killed after running off US 17-A and hitting multiple trees early Friday morning

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A driver was killed in an early Friday morning crash near Moncks Corner.

Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 3:50 a.m. on US 17-Alternate near Hootie Court.

The driver ran off the roadway and hit multiple trees.

Trooper Ridgeway said the driver, who has not yet been publicly identified, died at the scene. A passenger was taken to Trident Medical Center with injuries.
