2 dead after being pulled from water at Breach Inlet

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – Two people pulled from the water at Breach Inlet on Tuesday afternoon have died, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to reports of two people struggling in the water around 3:18 p.m. and brought the individuals to shore. Officials said both were unconscious.

Live-saving measures were attempted at the scene and the male and female were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

Sgt. Matt Storen with the Isle of Palms Police Department said in a Tuesday night update the female died at the hospital. He gave an update Wednesday morning saying the male had also died.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office will identify the drowning victims when appropriate. An investigation is underway.
