South Carolina Aquarium to celebrate 25 years with festival and $25 admission
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The South Carolina Aquarium will celebrate its 25th anniversary this month with a free block party and special $25 admission.
The SC Aquarium, which opened in May 2000, will mark a quarter century of serving the Lowcountry as a place for entertainment, education, and a driver of conservation action.
“As we commemorate 25 years in the heart of Charleston, we feel immense gratitude toward the community we serve around the state of South Carolina and beyond,” said Kevin Mills, President and CEO of the South Carolina Aquarium. “The impact and success we’ve achieved are a testament to the unwavering support of partnering organizations, dedicated members, generous donors and every visitor who has shared in the wonder of connecting with our incredible animals.”
To celebrate the milestone, the Aquarium is inviting the community to join a fun-filled block party on Sunday, May 18, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., where Liberty Square will be transformed into a festival of sorts.
Guests can enjoy free family-friendly activities, including a climbing wall, bounce houses, and face painting. Local food trucks will also be on site selling lunch.
Additionally, the SC Aquarium is offering $25 general admission tickets on Sunday, May 18, and Monday, May 19 in celebration of its anniversary. People are asked to purchase their tickets in advance as certain entry times could sell out.
