Police searching for ‘armed assailant’ on Sullivan’s Island
SULLIVANS ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are actively searching Thursday for a suspect accused of striking multiple people on Sullivan’s Island.
Sgt. Matt Storen with the Isle of Palms Police Department told News 2 that a suspect struck “multiple children” with a vehicle near Sunrise Presbyterian Church and took off. Officials believe the suspect may be armed and dangerous.
The town issued an alert asking residents to “shelter in place” while authorities were “actively in pursuit” of an armed assailant wearing a red shirt and dark shorts. People should call 911 with any sightings.
Witnesses told News 2 that they saw multiple EMS and law enforcement vehicles in the area.
