Charleston County deputies still seeking tips on Pineview Road homicide 14 years later
CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Who killed Joseph Hymes? It’s something Charleston County detectives are working to find out 14 years later.
Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an address on Pineview Road on April 30, 2011, after Hymes’ body was found in a roadside ditch.
According to the sheriff’s office, Hymes was seen leaving his mother’s Balsam Road home days before. “Then, late on April 29, a witness heard what sounded like a firecracker but later was deemed to be gunfire that killed Hymes,” the sheriff’s office said.
At the time, Hymes’ mother told deputies that she assumed her son was “in the downtown area hanging out with some friends.”
Detectives questioned several of Hymes’ friends, including one considered a close friend; however, a suspect was never identified.
As the sheriff’s office continues its investigation into his death, they ask anyone with information to contact Detective Barry Goldstein at 843-554-2241, or you can send a tip to [email protected].
