Charleston police respond to shooting on Johnson Street; 1 dead

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Officers in downtown Charleston are responding to an active situation Sunday evening. 

At about 8:27 p.m., police heard several gunshots in the area of Johnson Street. They responded and found an adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim died as a result of their injuries.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute that escalated to gunfire, the Charleston Police Department said.
