‘Champ Awards’ honors 88 Charleston County students for service and character

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – More than 80 students in the Charleston County School District were honored during the Coaches for Character “Champ Awards” over the weekend.

The annual program celebrates two unsung heroes from every eighth and 12th grade within the school district who have accomplished wonderful things in their homes, schools, churches, or communities.

The school district’s selection is based on character, community service, academic effort, and overcoming adversity.

During Saturday’s ceremony, 88 students were recognized for their accomplishments, and award winners were able to thank their families, teachers, and mentors.

Sports Illustrated’s top two returning college quarterbacks in the country, Clemson’s Cade Klubnik and USC’s Lanorris Sellers, served as speakers during the ceremony.
