Charleston PD release details of deadly auto-pedestrian collision near Charles Towne Landing

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston Police Department has released further information about a deadly auto-pedestrian collision that happened near the entrance of Charles Towne Landing on Friday.

An Isuzu box truck was turning into the historic state park from Old Towne Road just before 2 p.m. when it struck an adult attempting to cross the roadway. The pedestrian ultimately died at the scene.

The box truck driver immediately stopped after the collision occurred and is cooperating with police, the department said.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased. The main entrance to the park was blocked off for about two hours while officers completed an initial investigation and cleared the scene.

This is the fifth fatal traffic collision the department has investigated in 2025.
