Two arrested for attempted armed robbery of landscaper on Daniel Island

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — Two people have been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a landscaper on Daniel Island, according to police.

Charleston Police responded to Oak Leaf Street on the morning of April 16 after the victim, who was part of a landscaping crew, was approached by a masked person who demanded their wallet at knifepoint.

The victim suffered a laceration during a struggle for the wallet.

An investigation into the incident led to the arrest of Damone Gene Sheppard, 24, of North Charleston, on charges of attempted armed robbery, first-degree assault and battery, and possession of a knife during the commission of a violent crime.

“Detectives determined that Sheppard was employed by the same landscaping company at the time of the incident,” police said in a news release.

The vehicle’s driver, Keyausiane Kristen Gough-Beaufort, 25, also of North Charleston, was arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery and first-degree assault and battery.

Both are being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center.
