Goose Creek man threw narcotics from his vehicle during brief chase, sheriff’s office says

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities say a Goose Creek man faces numerous charges after attempting to evade law enforcement on Highway 78.

Deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling the highway near Craven Road when they noticed a vehicle with an expired license tag.

When deputies attempted to catch up to the driver, identified as 34-year-old Kyle William Casey, they said he cut off multiple vehicles and almost caused a crash. Casey then passed a vehicle and sped off when the deputies tried to stop him.

“Casey continued to drive and throw narcotics out of his window,” the sheriff’s office said. “Casey’s vehicle then went off of the road and struck a ditch.”

At that point, the suspect ran off from his vehicle.

Berkeley County K-9 Kai and his handler tracked the suspect, leading to his apprehension.

The sheriff’s office said deputies found the narcotics that were thrown from the vehicle: a baggie of methamphetamine that weighed roughly six grams and a bag with nine dosage units of Hydrocodone inside.

Casey was arrested and charged with failure to stop for blue lights/sirens, possession of a scheduled narcotic, possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, and resisting arrest.
