Crews to begin constructing bike lanes near Shem Creek
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Construction crews will begin a project Monday to add permanent bike lanes to the roadway near Shem Creek.
Project leaders with the Town of Mount Pleasant said 4′-5′ marked bike lanes will be constructed across the Shem Creek Bridge on Coleman Boulevard between Pelzer Drive and Mill Street.
It includes adding 1.5 miles of continuous bike lanes from Houston Northcutt to Pherigo Street.
Some overnight lane closures are anticipated on Coleman Boulevard from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.; however, town officials say there will not be any lane closures during peak traffic hours.
Shem Creek Boardwalk and Shem Creek Park will remain open during the project, and access to all properties will remain unaffected during construction.
Work is expected to be completed by July 24 of this year.
