Jamestown residents may see smoke from a prescribed burn in the Francis Marion National Forest
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A prescribed burn is expected to take place Wednesday near the Santee River in Berkeley County.
The United States Forest Service will conduct the burn off Guillard Lake Road and Guillard Lake Circle in the Francis Marion National Forest.
Berkeley County officials said smoke will likely head toward Highway 174 and Highway 41 just north of Jamestown.
Prescribed burns were allowed to continue after the South Carolina Forestry Commission lifted a ban on outside burning for nearly all of the state’s 46 counties.
