Georgetown County warns of people posing as county employees or contractors to access private property
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Residents in Georgetown County should be on the lookout for individuals who may be posing as a county employee to access private property.
County officials said Tuesday they have been made aware of an individual(s) possibly posting as a county employee or contractor to access private property under the guise of performing inspections.
In one example provided by the county, the person presented a professional-looking business card to a resident.
Officials say county employees who are performing inspections will have an ID issued by the county while also driving vehicles with the county’s logo on the door and a unique vehicle number on the front side panel identifying what department they belong to.
“If residents have questions or concerns about someone on their property claiming to be there on behalf of Georgetown County, you can call the department they say they are working for to verify, or call the HR Department,” said county officials.
The department phone numbers are listed online at gtcounty.org. You can also call the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at 843-546-5102 if you have concerns about someone on your property.
