Colleton County detectives investigating after man found dead in Walterboro yard

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities in Colleton County are investigating a suspicious death at a Walterboro property.

Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Quail Drive around 9:30 a.m. after 911 received a call from a passerby reporting a man lying in a yard, covered in blood.

The victim was found dead when emergency crews arrived.

“While the exact manner of death remains undetermined, the case is being treated as a homicide,” the sheriff’s office said.

A person of interest has been identified and located. Officials say detectives determined this was an isolated incident and said there is no threat to the public.
