8-year-old girl struck by bullets through ceiling while eating family dinner, sheriff says

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — An 8-year-old girl was shot in the arm and leg while eating dinner with her family in a Florence County apartment, Sheriff TJ Joye said Wednesday night.

The girl, who’s expected to survive, was struck after bullets from an AR-15 being cleaned in a unit above hers traveled through the ceiling.

It happened in a complex along Willow Trace Drive, Joye said. He told News13 charges are expected.

Joye said the girl was taken by car to the hospital.
