Driver killed after hitting tree on Bees Ferry Road

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — A driver was killed Friday after striking a tree on Bees Ferry Road on Johns Island.

Charleston County deputies responded to Bees Ferry Road and Main Road intersection shortly after 3:30 p.m. on March 21 for a reported single-vehicle crash.

Officials said the vehicle was traveling southbound when it crossed a raised median onto the northbound side, veered off the roadway, and hit a tree.

The driver, who reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, was taken to a nearby hospital where they ultimately succumbed to their injuries.

The Charleston County Coroner’s has not yet identified the victim.
