Second person arrested for shooting outside Kingstree gas station that injured victim
WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A second person has been arrested for their role in a shooting outside a Kingstree gas station.
Malcolm O’Neil Brockington, 26, was arrested on charges of pointing and presenting a firearm, possession of a stolen vehicle, and breach of peace high and aggravated.
Deputies with the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to Johnny Boy’s on Sumter Highway for a shooting that happened on February 9. Once there, they found a gunshot victim lying on the ground.
An investigation into the shooting found that the victim was outside the gas station when he was shot following an altercation with Jessie Markeas Kennedy, who was arrested last month after surrendering himself to law enforcement.
Officials say Brockington engaged in the confrontation and fired at a person several times. After the shooting, he attempted to take a motorcycle from the location. The motorcycle was previously reported stolen out of another jurisdiction, deputies said.
Brockington was taken into custody by the Sumter Police Department on March 14 and taken to the Williamsburg County Detention Center.
The sheriff’s office asks that anyone with information about the incident contact them by calling the department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 843-355-6381.
