Citadel first-year cadets complete gauntlet, step into leadership roles

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Gauntlet is a rite of passage for cadets at The Citadel, marking the end of their first year through this rigorous physical and mental challenge.

For first-year cadets, the Gauntlet officially marks the end of their time as “knobs” and signifies a transition into leadership roles.

The Gauntlet is the first official exercise kicking off a weekend of celebration for cadets.

Recognition Day and Corps Day, two of The Citadel’s biggest annual events, will be on Friday, March 21, and Saturday, March 22.
