Berkeley County residents experience mass power outage

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Residents across Berkeley County lost power in their homes Thursday night.

Over 10,000 Berkeley Electric Cooperative customers were reportedly without power around  10:30 p.m.

Berkeley Electric released a statement saying the outage was due to the loss of transmission to two substations in the county. “Crews are working on rerouting power until the cause can be identified and corrected,” officials said.

At 11:11 p.m., the outage map shows that only two customers remain powerless.
