North Charleston Police Department enhancing traffic enforcement in neighborhoods
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) –The North Charleston Police Department is increasing traffic enforcement to make neighborhoods safer and crack down on speeding drivers.
North Charleston Police will be saturating the Oak Terrace Preserve, Cameron Terrace, and Liberty Hill neighborhoods.
“It’s younger kids and families in the area so I don’t see any issue with having so the safer the better,” said Claude Lathan, a neighborhood resident.
The police department’s goal is to promote safer driving for residents, drivers and pedestrians in the area.
“Safety is the most important thing. We need people to know when they come into our neighborhoods drive as they should keep everybody safe,” said Captain Andrew Glover with the Special Enforcement Bureau.
They say residents felt the roadways were becoming too dangerous, which prompted the increase in enforcement.
“Our specific complaints were stop signs, speeders, driving erratically around each other,” said Glover.
North Charleston officers plan to do similar operations in other neighborhoods in North Charleston.
