Fatal motorcycle crash on I-26 westbound kills sole rider

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash on I-26.

The collision occurred on Wednesday around 7:29 p.m. on I-26 westbound near mile marker 216.

Troopers say a 2023 Yamaha Motorcycle was traveling westbound, when the driver attempted to overtake traffic on the right, struck a curb, and spilled into the roadway.

The driver of the motorcycle was the sole occupant and was pronounced deceased.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased.
