Arrest made after body found wrapped inside bag in Ladson
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A woman is facing charges after authorities said a body was found wrapped inside a bag at a Ladson home.
Deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office were called to an address on Judy Hill Drive just before 5 p.m. Tuesday after a concerned citizen told dispatchers that they found the body while cleaning a trailer.
Deputies arrived at the scene and confirmed that a body was found.
Sara Mae Williams, 63, of Ladson, was arrested and charged with destruction, desecration, or removal of human remains.
“Our detectives worked relentlessly around the clock to identify the person of interest in this case. Their swift actions led to the identification of a suspect, and within just four hours, deputies were able to pinpoint the suspect’s location,” said Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis. “This is a testament to the professionalism and commitment of our team to ensure justice is served.”
The victim will be identified by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office when appropriate. The cause of death is currently undetermined and pending autopsy.
An investigation is ongoing.
