Lowcountry school districts to close during severe weather
COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Two Lowcountry school district’s have decided to cancel all classes for Wednesday amid the looming threat of severe weather.
Colleton County School District
Colleton County School District announced the decision as forecasters predict damaging wind gusts, potential hail, and possible tornadoes.
“All afterschool and athletic activities will also be canceled Wednesday. In closing, the school district is committed to the safety and education of all students,” said Mary Fox, district spokesperson. “Our goal is to provide a secure and supportive learning environment, even in times of emergency. “
Fox also said any additional changes will be posted to the district’s website and social media pages.
Dorchester School District Four
Dorchester School District Four announced all schools and offices will be closed Wednesday due to extreme weather conditions.
“While canceling school is never our first choice, the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority,” district officials said. “We appreciate your understanding and will provide further information regarding the make-up day as soon as possible. No schedule changes have been made for this afternoon. Stay safe and take care!”
