Man, 28, charged for shooting outside Kingstree gas station

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Deputies in Williamsburg County arrested a 28-year-old man last week for charges related to a shooting outside a gas station on Sumter Highway.

Deputies responded to Johnny Boy’s in Kingstree on Feb. 9 after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a gunshot victim lying on the ground, the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office said.

EMS immediately began to render aid. An investigation revealed the victim and the suspect, identified as Jessie Markeas Kennedy, were in an altercation that led to the shooting.

Kennedy surrendered on Feb. 21 to the sheriff’s office.

He was booked at the Williamsburg County Detention Center for the charges of attempted murder, pointing and presenting a firearm, discharging a gun into a vehicle, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
