Downtown roads closed after cement truck snaps utility pole
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A utility pole in downtown Charleston was damaged by a cement truck Monday morning.
The crash happened on President near Bogard Street around 10:45 a.m., according to witnesses.
Officers with the Charleston Police Department are currently on the scene. They said President Street is closed in both directions near the Crosstown due to powerlines in the roadway.
Norman Street and Allway Streets are also closed.

Photos and video from the scene show the utility pole was snapped in half. It was seen lying across the road with several lines down.
Dominion Energy spokesman Paul Fischer said utility crews responded to the accident location just before 11 a.m. and are still on site making final repairs.
Fischer said five customers are currently impacted by the downed lines.
