Car struck Folly Road home, overturned, caught fire early Saturday morning

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A vehicle crashed into a Folly Road home early Saturday morning, sparking a fire that caused significant damage.

Emergency crews responded to a vehicle crash near 66 Folly Road around 1:44 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a vehicle left the road, hit a structure, and was on fire.

The car was found flipped over when crews arrived at the scene.

Officials with the Charleston Fire Department said the fire was extending into the home, which was vacant.

“The occupants of the car were located near the scene, both had escaped the vehicle prior to emergency personnel arriving,” said CFD officials. “At least one was transported for injuries sustained during the accident.”

The house suffered significant damage; however, officials said it is stable. While no one was living at the home, its owners were called to begin boarding and securing the property.
