Angel Vause sentencing happening in downtown Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Angel Cooper Vause, longtime girlfriend of the man convicted of killing Brittanee Drexel, will be sentenced in Charleston for lying to federal investigators.

In 2009, Brittanee Drexel was killed while vacationing with friends in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, after traveling from New York. In 2022, Vause’s longtime boyfriend, Raymond Moody, confessed to killing Drexel.

Vause admitted that she was in the car when they picked Drexel up but denied any involvement in the murder.

After investigation, more evidence pointed to Vause lying about her involvement, according to investigators.

Vause pled guilty back in September to three counts of making false statements to federal agents.

Federal prosecutors are seeking a 24-year prison sentence for Vause, but her attorneys argue Vause was also a victim of Moddy’s manipulation and asks for a lesser sentence.

Angel Vause’s hearing will take place Feb. 13 in downtown Charleston at 2:30 p.m.

Count on 2 for updates.
