Former Moncks Corner PD Chief becomes Chief of Staff of Dorchester Co Sheriff’s Office

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Dorchester County Sheriff announced that the former Moncks Corner Police Department Chief is now the new Chief of Staff for the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

Steve Young has over 30 years of experience in law enforcement, most recently serving as the Chief of the Moncks Corner Police Department since 2023.

Sheriff Sam Richardson said he was pleased to announce the appointment of Chief Young.

Sheriff Richardson said, “Chief Steve Young is a distinguished leader in law enforcement, known for his integrity, innovation, and proven track record. As our new Chief of Staff, he will bring fresh perspectives and forward-thinking strategies that will elevate our operations. I look forward to the great contributions he will make to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of our office.”

Chief Young expressed his gratitude for the new position and commitment to strengthening the sheriff’s office and serving the community.
