Driver killed in Orangeburg Road head-on crash

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A driver was killed Wednesday afternoon following a head-on crash in Dorchester County.

Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened on Orangeburg Road, about two miles west of Summerville, around 5 p.m.

A Kia sedan struck a Ford transit van head-on, causing both to hit a ditch.

The driver of the Ford was taken to a local hospital with injuries; however, the driver of the Kia died at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
