Mount Pleasant officer fired for inappropriate conduct, department says
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A Mount Pleasant officer was fired after police found a suspicious package with his name on it, the department said Monday.
Police responded Jan. 31 to a location on Show Basket Way after receiving a report of a suspicious package addressed to “Andrew Rowell” who was employed by the Mount Pleasant Police Department at the time.
The department said an internal investigation began once officers arrived and saw the package’s contents. The agency did not say what was in the package.
The Mount Pleasant Police Department asked the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to conduct an independent investigation.
When asked about the package contents, News 2 was sent the following statement, “SLED will have to determine when they are ready and able to release that information.”
Rowell was terminated for conduct unbecoming of a police officer. This is an active investigation.
