Berkeley Fire crews rescue person trapped in house fire

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Firefighters in Berkeley County rescued a person trapped in a house fire early Tuesday morning in the Cross community.

According to Central Berkeley Fire, they were notified of a possible structure fire around 7 a.m. in the 1300 block of Old Hwy 6.

Upon arrival at 7:14 a.m., crews found a mobile home ablaze at 50% involvement. An entrapment was also suspected.

Officials say firefighters were able to rescue the critical patient from the residence and stabilize them. The patient was flown to a local hospital by helicopter in critical condition.

Crews extinguished the fire at the 50% involvement mark on the residence.

An investigation is underway to determine the origin of the fire.
