Police: Man threatened to kill Home Depot employee during armed robbery
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – A man was arrested Sunday after he robbed a Summerville Home Depot and then fled into the woods, police said.
29-year-old Robert Jordan is charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and resisting arrest. Jordan was booked at the Berkeley County Detention Center.
Summerville officers responded to the Home Depot on Marymeade Drive around 2:45 p.m. Sunday for a report of an armed robbery.
The suspect, identified as Jordan, had hidden several store items in a book bag and attempted to leave without paying. An employee confronted Jordan as he was trying to leave, and Jordan told the employee he had a gun and then threatened to kill them, according to the Summerville Police Department.
After the threat, Jordan ran across the street and pointed the firearm at the employee before fleeing further. Police conducted an initial search for Jordan but were unsuccessful.
Around 4:45 p.m., Jordan was spotted riding a bike, the department said. K9 Ruger was deployed, and he tracked Jordan to a wooded area where he was found hiding under a pine straw pile.
When police apprehended Jordan, they found a firearm on him and recovered all the stolen items.
