Man, 18, critically injured in Walterboro shooting

WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCBD) – Police in Walterboro are investigating a shooting that critically injured an 18-year-old man.

Emergency crews responded to a Francis Street home just before 7 p.m. Thursday and found a man “bleeding profusely” on the front porch when they arrived.

While first responded and immediately provided medical care to help control the man’s bleeding, officials with Colleton County Fire Rescue said he “lost a great deal of blood” at the scene and was given two units of blood while en route to an area hospital.

Fire-Rescue officials said the man’s condition began to improve while he was on the way to the hospital.

Details about the shooting are limited. The Walterboro Police Department is investigating.
