Brady Street home damaged in late Friday night fire
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A home on Daniel Island was damaged on a Friday night fire.
Charleston firefighters and police officers responded to a home on Brady Street around 11:30 p.m. after residents reported a fire at their property.
Fire was seen coming from the chimney and spreading into the attic and second floor of the two-story home when crews arrived.
The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes.
Fire investigators said the residents had used the fireplace in the living room that evening; smoke alarms on the second flood activated and alerted the residents to a fire, prompting them to call 911.
“Investigators confirmed the fire originated within the enclosure surrounding the fireplace,” Charleston Fire said.
An officer from the Charleston Police Department was checked out by Berkeley County EMS at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
