Authorities find body in water near Goose Creek Reservoir Dam

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCBD)—Law enforcement in Berkeley County discovered a deceased individual in a local waterway Thursday evening.

The Hanahan Police Department received the report around 5 p.m. saying there was a possible body in the Goose Creek near Estuary neighborhood and Remy Way.

Hanahan officers and detectives searched the waterway with the help of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office’s marine unit, according to Hanahan Police Chief Rick Gebhardt.

An active investigation is ongoing.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the deceased or the manner of death.
