Leaders to break ground on new Johns Island fire station
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston city leaders will break ground Wednesday on a new Johns Island fire station.
The ceremony, including Charleston Fire Chief Dan Curia, Mayor William Cogswell, and members of city council, is slated for 2 p.m.
Charleston Fire Department’s Station 23, located on Wildts Battery Boulevard near Maybank Highway, is expected to have eight people on staff with one engine and one ladder.
Charleston city council approved funding for the new fire station in mid-December 2024.
