Students temporarily evaucated from Windsor Hill Elementary due to bathroom fire

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Students were temporarily evacuated from Windsor Hill Elementary School on Tuesday due to a bathroom fire.

Jennifer Passmore, public information officer for Dorchester District 2, said the fire was extinguished by school staff.

All students and staff were safely evacuated from the building. The North Charleston Fire Department completed a safety inspection that included an air quality test to ensure the building was safe to resume regular operations.

“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” said Passmore. “We are grateful to our staff and emergency responders for resolving this situation safely and quickly.”

Details about what started the fire were not provided. News 2 has reached out to the North Charleston Fire Department for additional information.
