Charleston County schools to operate on 2-hour delay Monday

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston County schools will operate on a two-hour delay as classes resume Monday morning.

The district said all administrators, teachers, and staff members are expected to report at their regularly scheduled time “to ensure preparations for a safe start to the school day.”

The district said safety remains its top priority and urged everyone to use caution while traveling as some area roads are still dealing with icy conditions.

“While our Facilities Management team has been working throughout the weekend to clear snow and ice from our campuses, today’s mid and late afternoon reassessments have suggested that some icy spots still remain–prompting this two-hour delay, primarily to allow for increased daylight and visibility for students,” CCSD said.

CCSD said students walking to school or to bus stops should exercise extreme caution and be on the lookout for lingering snow and ice.
