Cars damaged by ice falling from Mount Pleasant apartment building roof

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Multiple cars parked at a Mount Pleasant apartment complex were damaged by sheets of ice sliding off the building’s roof.

Ice began melting Thursday and Friday after multiple days of freezing temperatures.

One resident who lives in a complex off Indigo Market Drive said he arrived home late Thursday night to an unpleasant surprise… the inside and outside of his car covered in snow and ice.

His windshield and sunroof were shattered, and his hood was severely damaged. The man’s bumper was also cracked, and several dents were found on his vehicle.

News 2 found other vehicles in the parking lot that were damaged when we arrived.

The resident said he reached out to his car insurance company. They told him they would not be covering the damage.

If you know your car is parked under a roof, if possible, you should safely move it to another location away from any potential falling ice.
