Woman arrested for attacking Burke High School student with hammer
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A 25-year-old woman is in custody after she attacked a Burke High School student with a hammer Wednesday, according to police.
Ladaisha Almuid was booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. She was granted a $15,000 bond but remains incarcerated, according to the jail records.
A Charleston officer responded to a disturbance around 4:37 p.m. Wednesday and, when they arrived, saw several individuals involved in a physical altercation, reports state.
During the altercation, Officer Mattingly watched a woman, later identified as Almuid, strike the victim with a claw hammer. Officer Mattingly learned the victim was hit several times, including multiple times on the left side of his head and his left arm.
Through an investigation, police learned that the altercation began when one Burke High School student came to confront the victim, also a Burke student, about past problems. Those problems included an earlier fight at Harmon Field Park that day.
Police also found video of the fight on bystander phones, officials said.
