Goose Creek PD charge Conway charter school employee for child sex crimes
GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCBD) – A Conway charter school employee was arrested Tuesday and charged by the Goose Creek police department for child sex crimes, according to a report from the department.
55-year-old Jason Erik Keller of Myrtle Beach was charged with the attempted sexual exploitation of a minor in the first degree, two counts of criminal solicitation of a minor, and attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor 11-14 years old.
Keller was arrested at the Atlantic Collegiate Academy and transported to the Goose Creek Police Department for an interview. Once the interview was completed, he was booked at the Berkeley County Detention Center.
According to reports from Goose Creek PD, Keller engaged in sexually explicit conversation with someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl while attending an Evaluator 4.0 training event hosted by the Dorchester County School District in October 2024.
The 14-year-old Keller thought he was talking to was actually an investigator with the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
Comments Keller made in the conversation contributed to investigators determining he was in Summerville when the messages were exchanged across the Kik Messenger app.
The undercover investigation involving Keller began in September 2024, supplemental documents state.
Law enforcement used the email address associated with the Kik account and information from the SC Department of Education, SC DMV, and his vehicle registration to help identify Keller.
During the October conversation, his vehicle’s license plate was also determined to be in Summerville.
News 2 has contacted the charter school president for a comment and is awaiting a reply.
