Man shoots alleged sexual assault suspect at Moncks Corner gas station

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two connected incidents involving the sexual assault of a juvenile and a shooting.

Deputies responded to a residence on January 12 on Dawsey Dr in Bonneau in reference to a sexual assault of a juvenile. Law enforcement identified Brandon William Clark as the suspect, he fled from the scene before deputies arrived.

K9 deputies responded to the scene to search for him but did not locate him. Officials say reports were drafted for Clark for Criminal Sexual Conduct.

The following day January 13, Berkeley County dispatch received a 911 call in reference to a shooting at the Country Corner Store on W. Main Street.

Deputies located a male victim suffering from wounds sustained in the shooting. The victim was later identified as Clark.

The suspect in the shooting, Thomas Coburn, was still on the scene and was detained by deputies.

Clark was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Coburn was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Violent Crime.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
